List

Listenansicht

The list shows beacons, radio beacons and DGPS stations in tabular form and contains all relevant information. In addition, distance, course and direction are displayed. The course is the absolute direction on the map from the current position to the beacon. The direction is the deviation of the direction to the orientation of the iPhone. A negative deviation means the beacon is to the left of the iPhone axis, positive to the right of the axis. While heading is helpful in navigating the chart, direction can be used to determine a beacon on deck.

The list can sort by Id / publication, by distance or by beacon in view. The first two sorting options are self-evident. Sorting by field of view takes into account not only the distance, but also the course. So a beacon which is further away but in the direction of the iPhone can appear higher on the list than a beacon which is closer but behind the direction of the iPhone. When turning the iPhone, the list must be re-sorted with the blue turn arrow. The number of beacons is limited when sorting by distance and by direction.

Map View

The map view displays the beacons, radio beacons and DGPS stations on a map. According to the international chart signatures, the beacons are displayed with a star, the radio beacons and DGPS stations with concentric circles. Depending on the level of detail of the chart, navigation aids are grouped together for clarity and shown with a circle indicating the number of navigation aids included.

The map can either follow the current position and orientation of the iPhone or be moved freely. In the first case the current position and orientation is shown below, in the second case the coordinates of the map center are shown. Switching is done via the arrow in the upper left corner.

Note that a working internet connection is needed when using the map.
